Here are some fact sheets regarding the use of biosolids to reclaim stripped mine land in Pennsylvania. There are two fact sheets (1) (2) from the City of Harrisburg as well as a FAQ sheet from Material Matters. There are also three great papers on the successful use of compost from the City of Allentown (among others) used to restore zinc comnatinated land in Palmerton, PA. These include an journal article, a success story and an EPA publication. The city of Philadelphia has been using biosolids for over twenty-five years for mine land reclamation, and a summary of this program at the twenty year mark was prepared by Bill Toffey in a paper presented at WEF. Please check back in the next week for additional information. A source of dependable, accurate information and resources
