Join us for the first in a series of Operator Training webinars: Solids Management Overview, presented by Al Razik of the Mid-Atlantic Biosolids Association (MABA) and Mid-Atlantic Biosolids Foundation (MABF).  

 
This webinar will provide a comprehensive review of wastewater solids handling, treatment, and reuse. The webinar is designed for beginners/individuals new to the wastewater treatment process, and no prior training is required.
 
This course will cover fundamental definitions and terminology, and explain metrics. The presentation will explore the entire wastewater treatment process (from preliminary screening through secondary biological treatment) and reviews various solids handling technologies, including dewatering processes that categorize material by total solids content. A significant focus is placed on Pathogen and Vector Attraction Reduction (VAR) Treatment, detailing the differences and specific technologies (like anaerobic digestion, composting, and heat drying) required for Class B versus Class A material. 

 
Attendees will gain vital knowledge on compliance with the Federal 503 Rule, which governs pollutant limits, pathogen reduction, and VAR for practices like Land Application, Surface Disposal, and Incineration, as well as specific State of Maryland (MDE) Regulations, including mandatory monitoring for added parameters like Nitrogen and PCB's, and annual generator fees. Finally, the course details biosolids end use options.
 
The course is approved for 2 hours of operator credits in MD. Course credit #7948-25-3.
