Presentation 1: Biosolids Drying - An Overview and a Few Examples

Sludge is everywhere, everyone wants it gone, nobody wants it nearby, and it takes energy to treat. This presentation will give an overview of the Komline-Sanderson Paddle Dryer which is an indirectly heated biosolids drying system as well as a few examples of how this technology is used.

Presentation 2: County wide biosolids handling in Sussex County, DE

Experiences in designing, constructing, operating and maintaining a biosolids drying facility.

Presentation 3: Biosolids drying at the North River Wastewater Treatment Facility

Greg will provide a brief summary of the North River Wastewater Treatment Facility’s biosolids drying system which utilizes biogas from anaerobic co-digestion.  Greg will discuss the benefits of converting Class B biosolids to Class A biosolids as well as the challenges and lessons learned.

Presentation 4: Lessons Learned at the Little Patuxent WRP Thermal Drying Facility

Howard County, Maryland commissioned a new belt drying facility in December 2020 as part of a larger biosolids upgrade at the Little Patuxent WRP.  The presentation will include a brief comparison of the former and new biosolids system, as well as operational and maintenance lessons learned through the last 24 months of operation. It will also touch on beneficial use of the new thermally dried class A biosolids product.

Presentation 5: Treatment of Municipal Sludge by Thermal Drying

A brief overview of the 4 technologies Andritz offers to Dry Municipal Sludge; Drum Dryer, Fluid Bed Dryer, Belt Dryer and Paddle Dryer. We will discuss the benefits of each technology and review the process flow diagrams. Andritz focuses on helping our customers safely manufacture agriculture grade fertilizers from sludge or alternatively reduce the volume of waste for disposal.
