MABA Webinar: NYC Department of Environmental Protection: Biosolids RFEIs

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is releasing two Requests of Expressions of Interest (RFEIs) to identify new strategies and partners to facilitate increased beneficial use of the nearly 1,300 wet tons of biosolids generated daily at its 14-in-city water resource recovery facilities. Both RFEIs seek to advance a local and regional green economy and to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions associated with biosolids management. The In-city Biosolids RFEI released on February 9th, 2024 seeks responses for in-city processing and use of Class A EQ biosolids with the goal of attaining 5% in-city beneficial reuse. The Regional Biosolids RFEI will seek responses to identify partners for conventional land application of Class A or B biosolids and emerging biosolids treatment technologies to support the goal of diverting 100% of biosolids from landfills by 2030.
